whenknightswerebold:A-Z of The Adventures of Sir Lancelot-D is for disguises.Basically you can’t have this programme if you don’t have the characters being able to pose as other types of people and getting to play dress up, its fabulous. In Shepherd’s War Lancelot became an honorary shepherd for a while whilst he taught the other shepherds how to defend themselves against brutal knights who were attacking them. Not really much of a disguise as such but a nice beard nonetheless. In The Lesser Breed slave Lancelot is granted a chance of escape by Sella by posing as Prince Leif, complete with awesome headdress and cloak. In Sir Bliant, Lancelot is aged in a spell by Merlin to pose as Sir Bliant in order to control Bliant’s unruly sons. Trouble is as Lancelot is made older, so soon his strength! There is a very impressive scene with William Russell playing both Lancelot and Sir Bliant in the same scene, in fact William plays three separate people in this story. In Sir Crustabread Lancelot pretends to be a baker to get inside a castle to rescue the Lady Eleanor from a marriage she does not want. His travelling companion Lady Lynette who sneered at fake baker Lancelot, also turned out to be in disguise, she was not really a lady at all and was in fact the servant to Lady Eleanor. In The Queen’s Knight Lancelot briefly poses as a common worker to get into Mordred’s castle but is quickly discovered after his lingering lustful looks at the Queen Guinevere who he is attempting to rescue. In The Thieves Lancelot and King Arthur go undercover as two common thieves in an attempt for Lancelot to prove that they do not have an easy life once they are branded with the sign of thievery. Lancelot takes to the disguise a lot better than the King (Or should we say, ‘Artie King of the cutthroats’.) And finally in Lady Lilith Brian thinks it would help to dress as the ghost of Lilith’s dead father in order to scare annoying Liones away from the castle. Brian is in love with Lilith and does not want Liones to marry her. Unfortunately his stilts get caught on the rug, he falls over and its obvious (only then) that he isn’t actually a phantom but an ordinary squire on stilts and in a very bad wig. -- source link
