Well today was my day off. What a better day to play my sweet PS4. Hanging around together and… Wtf is that dark and blue lighten slime around my PS4?! Well, that, my friends, is the most disturbing and thrilling game of 2015 : SOMASOMA is a first person survival horror. You play Simon Jarrett, living is life in Toronto. He had a terrible car accident in which his wife died and as a consequence his brain is literally bleeding out. Let him with couples of weeks maybe months to live. Trying to save his life, he decide to participate in a scientific experience. After that, he’s directly throw in Protheos-II, a base undersea. This is when the game begin. You’ll explore the maps try to understand how you get there and surviving the WAU a fucked up IA that try to kill you. Talking about the WAU, with this game you realize you don’t need thousand of enemies, giant disgusting monsters or blood every where to feel fear and being disturb. No SOMA must have like… Three or four monsters in the game, all creation of the WAU. One for every area you visit. You have no weapon here. You can’t defend your self. All you can do is avoiding them and try not being catch and jeez it work perfectly fine. Every one of them have different pattern. Is up to you to discover how avoiding them.You’ll never jump off you couch (well it can depend of how sensitive you are). No what SOMA does is to put you in some sort of constant stress. You’ll never feel safe wherever you are. The game design and the sound design successfully create this tension. When you’ll start to feel a bit secure expect to be disappoint on that point because something will fall on you. The atmosphere is really the strongest point of SOMA with it’s story. Just a little part on the story. I don’t want to get to much in the detail because it will ruin all the fun of this incredible game. The story make you think of human existence and transhumance. What is a human? What’s make you one? You can make choice during the adventure but non of them will influence the ending. Depending of your choice you’ll feel better or worth with the end of the story. I felt terrible.The worst point is the technical point. SOMA is an indie game and you feel it when you play. Understand me the game is not ugly. It got basic but clean texture. No, what really goes wrong is it loading’s time. You have them every where in the game. You walking a alley and then, out of nowhere it freeze and it load. I’m not even talking about the three of four crash I had while playing. Whatever you like survival horror or not. If you love video game, if you want a proof that video game can make you think, if you want a incredible and emotional story to play or if you just want to thrill, whatever the reason, YOU HAVE TO PLAY SOMA. It is without a hesitation a great game and more over it’s an extraordinary story that keeps you in from the beginning to the end. -- source link
