mayevenyou:So, a long time ago, during tolkienreadalong s HObbiit read along, I was trying to post a cocktail every week. I managed to fall way behind, but I stilll have so many odeas (and drinking) to do, so I thought I would finish up over the next few weeks! I’ll try to do one for every two remaining chapters, so this is 10 (A Warm Welcome) and 11 (On the Doorstep.) Today’s cocktail is somewhat fitting, because it represents both some very bedraggled dwarves rising from barrels, and this running feature rising from the dead! The dwarves and Bilbo in these chapters are in a funny position. They are greeted with golden songs, stories of “grass beneath the sun,” but find themsleves almost drowned, stuck on a rocky hillside, and then threatened by dragons. They are triumphant, yet endangered. This cocktail, based on the Zombie invented by legendary Beachcomber bartender Donn the Beach, it is also a tale of two halves. It’s beautiful and fruity, but it packs a hell of hidden punch. A suitable drink as Autumn comes on, the land grows bleak and barren, and Durin’s day approaches.ZOMBIE DWARF (serves one)0.5 shot dark rum1 shot light rum0.5 shot apricot brandy1.5 shot pineapple juiceSqueeze of lime to taste.Stir the ingredients in a short glass with ice. Drink, and think of far off sunsets, and vast, red-gold dragons. Picture credit: http://www.hgtv.com/design/make-and-celebrate/entertaining/zombie-cocktail-recipe -- source link
