Happy Clone Wars Friday! This week’s theme: Star Wars OTPs!Though I love Star Wars, I am also a pacifist, which is quite a trick. Fortunately, there is at least one storyline I can wholeheartedly approve of: when Cut Lawquane deserted the Republic army to raise an interspecies family with his Twi’lek wife, Suu. Hell yeah! They should all do that! What if they held a Star War and no one came? One interesting behind-the-scenes fact I just learned is that their kids were actually designed to have a different biological father who was also a human. Though this detail might seem unnecessary, it actually explains the timeline. Since the entire Clone Wars takes place across only 3 in-universe years, it would be impossible for Cut to leave the war and father kindergarten-aged children. I had assumed that either we were supposed to suspend our disbelief, or Cut’s children were aging rapidly because of his altered clone DNA, but this explanation is far happier (and the theme of adoption is very fitting for Star Wars!).Still, it is tragic to consider that Suu and their children will far outlive Cut. Is anyone else hoping that The Bad Batch show might reveal a cure for the clones’ rapid aging, and it might somehow reach this family?Sketch of Suu Lawquane and her family by Wayne Lo.
