helltalia-inc: sclez: animagamefan: Sweden and Finland I remember wondering what a Hetalia Winter War strip would be like before this was released. Considering the popular fanon that Tino resents Berwald for not helping/abandoning him at the time, I was assuming it was going to be one of Himaruya’s more serious strips with maybe Tino being busted up on the battle field, seeing Berwald skulking around and watching him fight, screaming to him for help before Berwald walks away guiltily as he’s powerless to help due to his boss’s orders. Then post WW2 Tino wouldn’t talk to him until at least the 70’s, let alone be friendly with him until the 90’s when they both joined the EU. …But then this strip came out with Berwald being part of the Swedish volunteers and Tino being happy to see him and I was like ‘LOL WELL SHIT, EVERYTHING WENT BETTER THAN IT DID HISTORICALLY EXPECTED.’ The moral of the story: Himaruya is unpredictable and don’t you dare think you can guess how he’ll interpret things.
