Sol Sol was a close companion of the original stranding hunters Mel and Bernardo. Mel would often hunt for both himself and Sol, who was thought to be his sister. Mel tried often to teach Sol how to hunt for herself by stranding on the beach without result - although like all Patagonian Orcas Sol is confident in fairly shallow water and would often follow Mel to shore. -- source link
