jareths-labyrinth:lyriumspirit:exhaustedapostate:zorya:well someone’s a hand talkerAm I the only one to notice he stares down when he talks? He still has slave behaviour despite being a”free elf” He breaks this this habit later in the game, but still. He continues to use this even when he felt comfortable with Hawke. He does his best to make eye contact, even then he can only do it for a few seconds. [until he breaks the habit.]I don’t think a lot of people realize how difficult it is for him to break through that kind of behavior. He has been a slave his entire life and has no experience of how to act in the real world. For three years he had done nothing but run and hide. He was terrified that every corner could result in his capture and he had no time to settle down and learn how to live. Even when he decided enough was enough and to stop running, what did he do? He stayed in an abandon mansion for six years, hardly leaving during the day, unless a friend asked him to. His only exposure to the world was from the friends he made through Hawke. He shows great improvement over time. He loosens up, jokes around. Enjoys himself for the first time. He is just beginning to learn how to be a free man. To be able to walk through the city without constantly looking over his shoulder. But certain gestures and behaviors will always remain with him. He doesn’t realize how saying, “Tell me and it is done.” sounds to those who know of his past. But he knows no other way to show his loyalty, other than to do as they ask.reblogging again because of the perfect comment -- source link
