brooklynmuseum:Bundle up, Brooklyn! #BKMLibrary is celebrating the wonderful and fleeting fall season with autumnal images and objects from our collections. Even if you are not a fan of pumpkin-spiced everything, you are probably delighted by the various shades of orange, red, and gold that will wash over our beautiful city in the coming weeks. As the days become increasingly blustery, we will have to hold on to our hats and scarves as illustrated in this lovely Bendel fashion sketch (1916) from the BKM Library’s Fashion and Costume Sketch Collection. The Library’s fashion sketch collection is being digitized and populated with essential metadata in the Museum’s Digital Lab overseen by Deborah Wythe and dedicated volunteers. This particular sketch was spotted by volunteer Lynn Nacmias who described it as “the perfect outfit for a windy Fall day”, thanks to Lynn and Deborah!Need more eye candy to inspire your desire for weekend apple picking and getting lost in pumpkin patches? Check out Maxfield Parrish’s painting from Paintbox leaves : autumnal inspiration from Cole to Wyeth or the stunning prints of fall leaves and flowers from Shiki no hana (Flowers of the four seasons) from Special Collections. Here at #BKMLibrary we have something for all seasons!Posted by Kim Loconto -- source link
