Under the cut, very rare photo from the Nazi Occupation of Greece. Trigger warnings: death, execution, graphic, violence, morbid. The murder of Sofika and Loukia Topali and their maid Filitsa Kalavrou by the Nazi Germans and their collaborators, 7/7/1944. Location: Lehónia, Mount Pelion - a village close to Volos. The Topalis, mother and daughter, were wealthy women who actively assisted ELAS, the Greek Resistance Front against the Nazis, mostly by donating huge amounts of money. Their maid Filitsa helped as much as she could too and her husband was a guerilla fighter in the front. They were betrayed to the Nazis by Greek collaborationists. The Nazis tortured them for many weeks and eventually hanged them from a tree in the main square of the village. They left them there and they commandeered their mansion, which they looted and sent gold, jewellery, invaluable paintings and rare documents to Berlin.Photos sourceInfo source -- source link
