I had a really short stop over in #hongkong because I needed to get a working visa which required leaving mainland China. After some worrying moments at the VISA office (most notably leaving my TEFL certificate under the scanner) I finally got some free time to explore Hong Kong. In my 24 hour period in Hong Kong I have to say I really loved the place, it really is an East meets West place. They have British electricity plug sockets which immediately got my attention, and the people seemed to have much better manners e.g. letting you leave the lift before entering/apologising etc. The streets are much smaller than in mainland China which really adds to the concrete jungle effect. However, it still boasts fantastic views from #thepeak where you can go right to the top of a mountain and see #victoriabay in all of its glory! One thing I would say is don’t get too excited for the lazer show (see bottom photo) I thought it didn’t match the hype and certainly wouldn’t wait an hour again to see it. -- source link
