Workers carry mummified cats out from the tomb of Khufu-Imhat, November 2018.“An Egyptian archaeological mission has uncovered three New Kingdom (Between 1550-1069 B.C.) tombs that had been used during the Late Period as a cat necropolis along with four other Old Kingdom (Between 2686–2181 B.C.) tombs, the most important of which belongs to Khufu-Imhat, the overseer of the royal buildings in the royal palace. This tomb can be dated to the late fifth and the early sixth dynasties. Tens of cat mummies were found along with 100 wooden gilded statues of cats and one bronze statue dedicated to the cat goddess Bastet.” ○ -- source link
