house-of-gnar:Toyota Tacoma Polar Expedition ConceptThis one-off, 4-wheel drive vehicle was built specifically for traveling in the severe winter weather of Antarctica. Helmed by Jason De Carteret back in 2011, the vehicle broke not one, but two separate Guinness records in the South Pole – making it all the way there and back in under 40 hours. The vehicle was designed by London based Ian Nisbett while Lotus Engineering’s Kieron Bradley led the technical end of things. The suspension is all custom built by world-renowned specialist Marconi, the interior has been outfitted with 4 Polar racing seats, full roll cage, 4 HD cameras to document everything, and 2 GPS devices to ensure drivers never got lost in the frozen tundra. The engine is a standard 4L V6, but has a TRD supercharger go make a grizzly 341bhp. Bolted to it is a recalibrated transmission that allows for more hp and torque to reach the wheels. The suspension and undercarriage are built by Marconi and features custom prop shafts, separate locking rear/front differentials, a custom crevasse bar, a full rollcage and a 9 ton winch. The suspension features extras like separate locking front and rear air differentials. The body has been updated with military strength steel, and each panel was custom fabricated and welded by hand. The interior sports four racing seats and harnesses, and a fully insulated cabin with roll cage. It has a ~330 gallon fuel capacity, and runs on any type of unleaded gasoline, giving it a range of more than 6,000 miles! The vehicle also contains two heavy amperage batteries and a parallel solar panel system.I need this done to my 4runner. -- source link
