thebaconsandwichofregret:lord-armitage:counterpunches:#having worked with some us ambassadors in the past#their jobs are not as glamorous as their titles#they often lack resources and work with a skeletal staff#and their families do sacrifice a lot #unlike foreign embassies here in the us#none of them live in mansions #and depending on the country#are also put in danger #regardless of your politics#this is not the thanks they deserve#not to mention it creates a gap and a rocky transition for the embassies#like it’s not just the ambassador it’s the entire staff down to the attaches#so how are those embassies going to function?#it’s not like all positions will be filled right awayyeah why not suddenly remove all ambassadors appointed from the past eight years? You know those action movies where a big disaster wipes out the executive and legislative branches of the US government and the government is nearly crippled?Yeah, getting rid of a huge portion of your civil servants (who are required to be politically neutral by the way) is way way worse than any scenario Tom Clancy ever invented for one of his books. This is the most dangerous thing he’s done yet. And it’s just going to get worse. -- source link
