The Stele of Ushumgal, which commemorates a Sumerian real estate transaction from around 2800 BCE. It appears that Ushmugal either bought or sold three fields, three houses, and some animals. Ushmugal was a priest. The religious authorities (officially, the gods themselves) were seen as the owner of most property in early Mesopotamian society, but this stele shows that at least some land was privately owned.{WHF} {HTE} {Medium} -- source link
