Trouble, or maybe it’s just rotten fucking luck. On the south side of Kildare Island, bad luck wouldn’t be out of place. The whole place is drowning in it, like the Cut had been earmarked for misfortune at the dawning of the world. Bad hands dealt to good people is commonplace where Max is from but something about her’s still just feel … different.Max Zhu is the best kind of trouble, but she’s plagued by the worst kind imaginable. It’s the only explanation she can come up with for how she could have been born to parents who died before she saw sixteen. The only answer that makes sense as to why she’s stuck with her dickhead older brother who seems to regret ever taking custody of her.
