safitheartist:joerojasburke:anti “being-grabbed-by-abled-people” spikes for wheelchair handlesvia @JohnLZHC Remember people, if a wheelchair user does not explicitly tell you they would like you to push them, do not touch their wheelchair! You might think you are being nice or helpful but that’s not the case. They are very much capable to make judgement calls on weather or not they require help and you shouldn’t grab people’s property without consent anyways. If it isn’t a emergency that requires you to touch a person and or their property to prevent them from being harmed, do not violate their boundaries it’s really not that hard. Reminder thar grabbing somebody’s wheelchair without consent is ASSAULT. In some US states, it’s considered aggravated assault because it’s being committed against a vulnerable population. If you start moving their wheelchair without consent, that’s called abduction. You are kidnapping them.Wheelchairs are legally considered an extension of their user’s body. By grabbing their mobility device, you are grabbing their body. -- source link
