synstoria:So, the otome community has been shaken those days by the terrrrrrrible question : « what is an otome or not », and it was really disheartening to see people bickering over the definition for days. This term is very important to me, because it opened a new world to me, it’s the research term allowing me to finally find romance game made for women I was DESPERATLY NEEDED at the time. The term has evolved since then, to be more inclusive and diverse and I am super happy because I have discovered even more awesome games. For some people, Imperial Grace does not fit the definition (because it includes a woman love interest and it’s not a Japan/manga style), and I am strong enough to not care, as I consider my game an otome game in my own definition, but this pushback can be really hard for some creators, or even for some players that doesn’t feel welcomed into the community anymore. That’s why I am super happy with the amare tag. I hope it will democratise, so people can easily find game for women with romance without having to fear being backlashes because they have an unique art style or they offer different gender option for their MC or the love interest. Let’s hope we can all get thirsty in peace now A tag was created on itchio and many game already joined, you can take a look here! -- source link
