Two Maya effigy urns in the Mayapán style, fromthe eastern Yucatán (Late Postclassic Era, 1100s – 1300s).Both urns are earthenware with paint. The firstdepicts the Maya rain god Chaac, and the second depicts the Maya sungod. The Aztec version of Chaac was Tlaloc.Chaac is usually depicted with a human head andnon-human body with reptilian-like scales. He has a long, pendulousnose and fangs. As shown in the above photo, he often carries ashield and lightning-axe, with which he strikes the clouds to producethunder and rain. -- source link
