fujisan-ni-noboru-hinode:A grouping of uniform and equipment items as would have been worn by a Japanese Army Superior Private on campaign in China in the mid or latter 1930’s. The grouping consists of the following items: - Enlisted visor cap, olive wool with red band, well marked interior. The cap shows interior wear but is in overall excellent used condition. The cap is named to Ikeda Shigeo, and it is dated 1935. - M90 enlisted ranks olive wool uniform tunic. The tunic is dated 1937 and was evidently worn by two different soldiers. The name of Fujita Tada'aki is written in the tunic but is lined out by the drawing of circles around the kanji, and the name Ogawa Koichi is written. The tunic has red wool shoulder straps for the rank of Superior Private. The tunic has some spots and a small hole on the upper back, approximately ¼ inch long. The interior is well marked. Overall good used condition. - Japanese Army gas mask in carrying bag. The mask itself is dry and there is discoloration to the lenses. - Type 98 canteen, brown paint exterior, in web harness. This canteen has indentations from wear in the field. - Bread bag, olive brown cotton canvas, on shoulder strap. - Leather enlisted waist belt which carries two front Model 30 leather ammunition pouches, one in dark brown leather and one in black leather. There is a rear leather ammunition pouch on the belt which includes a gutta percha oiler. The belt also carries a Type 30 Arisaka rifle bayonet in its scabbard on a leather frog. The bayonet has a bird head pommel, hooked quillon, blued blade with fuller, and slightly contoured wood grips. The blade bears the manufacturer mark of the Nagoya Arsenal and the pommel has a serial number impressed into it. The bayonet is in overall very good used condition. - Japanese Army pony fur back pack with wooden frame and canvas cover. The back pack is in very good condition and has with it a Japanese army olive wool blanket and Army mess kit in olive brown paint. An exceptionally impressive group of the uniform tunic, visor cap, and equipment carried by a Japanese infantryman in China on the campaigns of the 1930’s, all clean and in matching condition.These items are for sale at the link below. -- source link
