Harvard College Library.Based on a Hindu legend, Le Dieu Bleu premiered at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris on May 13, 1912 with choreography by Michel Fokine, costumes and décor by Bakst, and Karsavina starring as the Fiancée. Though Oriental subject matter certainly thrilled the Ballets Russes audiences, the divertissement style was not very effective and Le Dieu Bleu did not enjoy a permanent place in the repertoire. -- source link
