I could go on and on and on about how much I hate school admins (as a former and future teacher), but that’s mostly labor relations and wage disparity. School boards, on the other hand, is a way for the petite bourgeoisie to sneak themselves into the halls of learning as deciders of curriculum without having earned a goddamn degree by pouring money and influence into some local election. It is a perverse American tradition, and one of the reasons (though chief reason was definitely very low wage) that I got out of teaching high school.
