theblindtorpedo:woozapooza:lesbodian:i want the person who wrote this to show this to their mom and to apologize. sappho is rolling in her gravewhy I can’t take the term “terf” seriously: exhibit Aseriously, this is why I don’t really approve of it under any circumstances. Because this sort of thing is so common, when I see something like “don’t follow me if you’re a TERF,” I don’t know if they mean “if you think trans women have no place in feminism” or if they mean “if you think lesbians have the right to assert their sexual boundaries without being called a ‘piece of shit’.”while i understand your reasoning Anna (and lord knows lesbians setting boundaries is def a thing that needs to be accepted), except transphobia is definitely a thing in the lesbian community that should be addressed as well and I think its all right for the poster to be upset about it. now ive not seem ppl use the “quirky” tone they describe, but I HAVE heard lesbians say “well they had a penis so arent you actually being heterosexual?” and then sneer at their sisters for not being a Gold Star Gay, like CMONwell that’s fair and I don’t doubt it, but I have also seen lesbians being told that they need to “interrogate their sexuality” and that their personal sexuality (as in, not the way they talk about their own or other people’s sexuality, but their sexuality itself) is inherently transphobic many times. This screenshot looked an awful lot like those posts to me, especially since they seem to be saying that this particular sexual boundary is what’s “awful.” I guess we’re assuming different contexts and I don’t know for sure which context it really was. -- source link
