blackmagiczine:blackmagiczine:BLACK MAGIC: A zine about black girls in fantasy is a charity zine dedicated to showcasing and promoting black girls in the fantasy genre and is currently looking for black women and non binary artists to apply for submission from February 2nd to February 16th!⭐ GOAL: The goal of BLACK MAGIC is to promote black girls* existing in the fantasy genre and to give black women and non binary artists exposure and recognition for their work.⭐ THEME: BLACK MAGIC is all about all things fantasy and mythological! Black girls (and other POC) as mermaids, witches, werewolves, vampires, goddesses, princesses, knights, magical girls, etc! You name it, we want it! We only ask that submissions avoid treading into Sci-Fi territory as that may be a theme for a later project. ⭐ CHARITY: All proceeds for this zine, after printing & shipping costs, will be going to the United Way of Genesee County to contribute to the Flint Water Fund (FWF). 100% of the money donated to the FWF goes to buying filters and bottled water for Flint residents, as well as other emergency support services and prevention efforts. We will ONLY email accepted artists by the following week (no later than February 24th). We are aiming for the art deadline to be March 25th so please make sure you have the time to get your submission done by then. ⭐ TYPE OF ARTISTS NEEDED: We are looking for black women and black non binary illustrators and comic artists. ⭐ HOW TO APPLY: If you are interested in applying, please fill out this short form here. We will need your preferred name/ online handle, your email (for contacting purposes), a link to your portfolio or anywhere you have examples of your art, and a small description of any ideas you have for your submission! ⭐ QUESTIONS: Before messaging, please check out our blog’s FAQ. We only ask that each submission includes at least one black female identifying character and that the focus of your piece is on them. This zine is also 100% LGBT friendly.
