Names are important in our culture. And if I can learn to pronounce those multiple syllable non-chinese names, they can learn to pronounce ours too. Funny thing is, I did met some people (eh, all of them are white people for some reason) who still asked for my “english” name even though I’ve already introduced my chinese name, which is a single syllable word whose pronunciation, which is a vowel, is available in most european languages.
