multifacetedmushrooms:Found these cuties! Love their color.Found hereThese look like Tylopilus plumbeoviolaceus (violet-grey bolete). They were formerly known as Boletus plumbeoviolaceus, until it was reclassified to Tylopilus in 1947 because of its pinkish spore print (Boletus sp. being characterised by brown spore prints). They appear as small violet bodies when young, and turn chocolate brown as they mature - you can see that beginning on the heads of the larger ones in the background, especially - while the pore surface (hidden under the cap) will be turning from white to pink. Their unique colouring makes them an absolutely gorgeous find but, like many boletes, they’re too bitter to be considered edible. It could be mistaken for the similar but paler Tylopilus violatinctus. -- source link
