mommymuffin:MCU Ladies WeekDay 5 - FavouriteFriendship Natasha & PepperThe reason I love Natasha and Pepper’s relationship so muchis that they are both pillars of sensibility in a sea of idiots. First let’s just state: they’reboth very powerful women in their own respects; Pepper in the business worldand Natasha in the espionage world. They both garner a lot of respect fromtheir peers and they both work extra hard to ensure that anyone who mightquestion their competency (due to being female or otherwise) will be corrected in short order.Oh, and they get that shit done. Whatever it is, these ladies will fix it,solve it, or end it. Period. I think these women admire those qualities in each otherand find solace in a friendship with someone who well and truly understandsthat “I swear everyone around me isn’tfiring on all cylinders.” Particularly their own personal idiots: Tony and Clint. It takesa lot to put up with problem children like Clint Barton and Tony Stark, butNatasha and Pepper not only manage it, they make it look easy most of the time. And still manage to have a personalrelationship with the dolts. How many times do you think, “why do I even love you?” has crossed their minds around those two men?I think their relationship is different from theirrespective relationships with Maria Hill in that regard. While Maria also swimsthrough the sea of idiots on a daily basis, unlike Natasha and Pepper, shedoesn’t have that one specific idiotthat she goes the extra mile for. Maria has many close relationships, but Fury, Coulson, and the rest of her relationships throughS.H.I.E.L.D. have always been more like that of family. Rather than, you know—adultswho need to be babysat as if they were actually children, Clint, put that down, Tony, no. Maria does her fare share of thatas well (no doubt with those two men in particular), but again, more likefamily, more in the role of a mother, I think, rather than the parallel way Natasha andPepper view Clint and Tony. Because see, Natasha and Pepper both view their one specificidiot as “you’re all I have” and that is an important distinction that noone else shares. That’s the detail on which they can commiserate wholly.Though their situations are vastly different, Ifeel that they’re also completely relatable to each other. Natasha and Pepperwould just get it in a way that noone else could. They both know where the other one is coming from and that’s atruly valuable quality in a friend—one that someone who doesn’t have much tohold onto in the first place wouldn’t be willing to let go of so easily. -- source link
