Half rack of ribs and three ounces of Wild Turkey. Fuck yeah. Truth is, most Canadians know next to nothing about Southern BBQ, one of the hardest things for me to leave behind in migrating north, but I’ve been more than happy to discover the delights of Memphis Blues in Vancity. I’m not even going to pretend it’s at the level of the Memphis-Kansas City-Texas barbecue triangle, but this is as close as I’m gonna get around here – po’ boys, brisket, collard greens – and it’s pretty damn good. Ribs smoked for eight hours, baked beans, corn bread, tangy (not overly sweet) slaw, potato salad, washed down with straight bourbon. No napkins, they just put a roll of paper towels on your table.
