Or give it all up to go girl-chasing? Whatever he chooses, Honoo will have to learn how to focus his passion in order to succeed.Equal parts educational and entertaining, Blue Blazes is one of the best manga to live-action adaptions ever made. The dynamic camerawork captures the trademark energy of Shimamoto’s panels while the actors are given free reign to chew the scenery in classic hotblooded manga style (Yuya Yagira as Honoo knocks it out of the park with his absurd facial expressions). Loaded with references, cameos and informative asides, Blue Blazes paints a clear if fantastical picture of what it was like to be a young fan and creative in Japan during the momentous year of 1980.
