Detail* of a new painting called ‘Air’, part of my ‘5 Elements of Nature’ series showing this Friday May 4th at @talongallery Talon Gallery in Portland, OR.The Calochortus tiburonensis, the Tiburon Mariposa Lily, is a very rare flower endemic to my home in Marin County, California, where it is known only from one population on Ring Mountain. The sprightly little yellow Wilson’s Warblers beautiful song indicates another first sign of spring where I live. I painted the bird with it’s bill open, singing its heart out to convey a sense of hope and ambition for it’s long migration ahead. As I pack my bags for Portland, I admire the ability to migrate across the entire PNW on itsy bitsy yellow wings (no baggage).
