celticpyro:Eh, “hate” is a strong word. They’re enemies and rivals with different ideals as heroes but that doesn’t preclude them getting along. You have to remember that hating and despising your enemies because you tried to kill them/they tried to kill you just isn’t a concept to Cu Chulainn. Death just isn’t that big of a deal to him so he sees no problem in trying to kill you one day (or alternatively, you nearly killing him) and going out for drinks or fishing the next. Maybe it’s because he’s a warrior and dying is just an occupational hazard so it’s just something he takes very lightly most of the time. And meanwhile, there have been times when Emiya goes along with it. It’s more prominent in the Emiya Gohan spinoff but for the most part Archer doesn’t have that much of a reason to outright hate Lancer. Heck, the times Lancer actually was ready to kill him were because Archer specifically either did something to piss him off (betraying his Master, telling him to give up his pride WHICH IS CU’S WHOLE REASON FOR BEING A HERO, that “Feed it to the dogs” comment, etc) or because Lancer was under the effects of a weakening Command Seal at the time. So yes, they’re enemies, and i’m not really sure if either of them would genuinely consider a romantic attraction to the other, but Lancer and Archer getting along and being chummy is entirely canon! Not to mention hate/rival ships aren’t exactly uncommon in fanfic. Look at Naruto/Sasuke, Bakugou/Deku, Kim Possible/Shego, Goku/Vegeta or Sora/Riku. Some of the most popular ships in their respective fandoms lol, and all born from a healthy dislike of each other. -- source link
