jaydotespy:iamabutchsolo:This is not true in any way, shape, or form.First of all, this guy is basically saying that a woman is just a vagina and that it is apparently the most important thing about them, which is sexist and cissexist. Why would anyone suggest that a vagina is equal to having power? This is also the kind of thinking in Beyonce’s “Girls Who Run the World”. Hmm, let’s see, women do not control governments, economies, land, or the media, but hey, they have vaginas, so let’s ignore all of that and say that they run the universe anyway because that will make us feel better. NO, that is complete bullshit and just a way to ignore the systematic discrimination and devaluation of women. If women actually “ran the entire motherfucking universe,” they wouldn’t need their sexualities to do so. It’s so patronizing to suggest that sex or sexuality = actual, legitimate power. They are not the same thing. This perception also ignores that women have been harmed and admonished because of their sexuality. Seductresses in literature and history are seen as women who are treasonous, abhorrent, even evil. A popular tool for conquering nations has been the mass rape of women. Girls and women continue to be systematically punished based on their sexual practices and whether or not they’re virgins all over the world. Women are taught to feel ashamed for having a vagina or using it by saying that they are “unclean” and need to stay “pure.” The fact that most women have vaginas doesn’t stop people from using vaginas against women; it only strengthens their argument. This doesn’t sound like a world in which sexuality and “vaginas” actually run the universe, it sounds like plain ol’ patriarchy.^yes. -- source link
