kaijubat:You are here. There are an estimated five hundred billion galaxies in the known universe. Our galaxy, the Milky Way, is an estimated thirty thousand parsecs wide. There are well over two hundred thousand astronomical units (AU) in a single parsec, with one AU being the average distance between the Earth and the Sun. At the center of our galaxy lies a supermassive black hole. Billions of stars, some smaller than ours, some far larger, are born and die over the course of billions of years. And yet, among all of that tumult, we exist. Things like salted caramel hot cocoa and cute dogs and wireless internet exist. On a cosmic scale, we are smaller than the smallest speck of dust imaginable, but we have the capacity for things like calculus, language, jealousy, rage, and love. Our own tiny minds expand infinitely inward. Remember this. Even on your lowest day, when you feel your worst, you are incredible, forged from materials blown from dying stars in the darkest sectors of space. You are significant. You exist. You are here. -- source link
