They not.They spend an hour berating her. Calling her an idiot; telling her things were better left alone. “Now the whole world knows you’re a freak”, he father yells at her from across the dinner table. “Do you even know what you’ve done to us?” her mother cries. Later, when she’s banished to her room, Kit finds her mother’s words stuck in her head. What she’s done to them. What she’s done to THEM. It’s always THEM. It’s not as if it’s her life. It’s not as if she’s the one who risked herself to save that woman. It’s them. Not anymore. Packing a duffel-bag, Kit steals herself out through her bedroom window and down into the cool night air. This isn’t about them anymore, she tells herself, it’s about her. And if she wants to spend her life saving people, then that’s her own damn choice.”taglist!
