barbucomedie:Uniform of a Russian Artillery Officer from the First World War on display at the Imperial War Museum in LondonDuring the First World War Russia had a huge amount of manpower to draw upon but had a very poor infrastructure and industry. The Tsars had been reluctant to build these as it was thought it would encourage rebellion amongst the lower classes.Because of this, compared to the other empires of the time, Russia had much fewer artillery and machine gun units. The colourful trousers are a remnant of the 19th century as many Imperial Russian regiments fought against the modernisation of their uniforms.Photographs taken by myself 2015 -- source link
