aquasplendens:aquasplendens:I recently bought a 120 gallon tank with dual corner overflows. It came with a 40 gallon sump and some of the plumbing. I’ve been wanting a drilled tank with a sump for a while now and have done some research on sumps and have even previously worked with sumps at a previous job. But does anyone have any good reference material for setting up and plumbing sumps? So remember when I got this behemoth? This tank has proven to be an enormous pain in my ass and I don’t even want to know how much money and time I’ve put into it…I ended up having a local aquarium service company come out to take care of the plumbing. After the owner of the company finished up, I did some leak tests, and one of the smaller bulkheads broke and just this past week had one of his techs come out to replace it and help with a couple other leak issues. After a couple of hours of working on the plumbing, the tank itself had no leaks whatsoever! Whoohoo! BUT turns out the sump had a leak….all the silicone looks good and doesn’t appear to have any leaks whatsoever, but there was still water leaking into the stand…thankfully the tank came with two sumps, but I’m thinking the smaller one might be TOO small for this tank. However, there’s a possibility that I may be getting a job at my company’s home office in Wisconsin, which means another cross country move. If that’s the case, I’ll end up selling this behemoth off to someone who has the patience for it. I’m just upset because I just bought a brand new mag12 return pump for it and it has shiny new plumbing and I may not even be able to get it set up. T-T Aaaaaay update on this. So I did move to Wisconsin for work! And I did end up selling this tank, actually sold it today from 1300+ miles away. Wooh! Definitely didn’t get back anything close to what I put into it, which really sucks, but whatever. -- source link
