In the northeast, many of our wetlands are bursting with carnivores. These little sundew plants reach out their leaves to snag insects. The spatulate-leaved sundew (Drosera intermedia, top) and the round-leaved sundew (Drosera rotundifolia, bottom) have red tentacle-like protrusions tipped with appealing dewdrops. Prey animals get stuck in the tentacles and the sundews excrete enzymes that digest them. -- source link
