cctvnews: Man collects 150 antique bedsHow would it feel to sleep on an ancient bed which has enjoyed a history of hundreds of years? A man in southwest China owns over 100 of such beds.Lin Zeliu, 44, from Chongqing Municipality has collected 150 antique beds from the Ming (1368 - 1644) and Qing (1636 - 1912) dynasties worth several million yuan over the past 25 years, Chongqing Evening News reported on Friday. The businessman expressed that he has had a sentiment for beds since he was a child and started collecting them when he was 18.He has spent over 3 million yuan ($479,350) on his over 1000 item collection of beds, shrines, plaques, tables and chairs, all from the Ming and Qing dynasties, according to the report.“Three businessmen offered 100 million yuan ($15,978,270) for all my antique beds but I refused,” Lin told the newspaper, “I am reluctant to sell them, because each was bought with my heart.”Now the beds are stored in a 1,000-square-meter warehouse where the annual rent is 100,000 yuan ($15,980).Though the storeroom is spacious, there is still not enough room for the 1,000 pieces of antiques. Unfortunately the room is slightly damp, and not ideal for the permanent protection to the antiques.Lin said his biggest wish is to open a museum to let local people see the precious cultural relics. -- source link
