Hungarian Mannlicher Mauser !? The M43 MannlicherDuring World War II Hungary was an ally of Germany, and as a result a special 8x57mm Mauser rifle was contracted to be produced for the Germany Army. What resulted was the M43, or 43m rifle, known to the Germans as the gewehr 98/40. Chambered for 8mm Mauser, it was essentially a Mannlicher action combined with a Mauser box magazine. About 140,000 were produced for the German Army, most being used on the Eastern front, another 90,000 were produced for the Hungarian Army. I can only imagine the faces of German soldiers (born and bred Mauser) who were issued these. Bwahahahahahahaha! -- source link
