ffxiv-adventures:balladsrest:captainsubligar:not-a-nunh:This is not my screenshot, but I felt it relevant for those roleplayers that did not see the end of 1.0This was Ul'dah during the Calamity. The cities were raided by bosses; enemkes spawned in droves. For those of you writing what your character was doing during the Calamity, keep in mind that the city streets were overrun with gigantic creatures, tearing through in their own terror as they’d been diven from the highlands and had nowhere to go; night and day were indistinguishable as Dalamud - a great, red meteor, changed weather patterns, day and night cycles, and even water levels. The Calamity wasn’t a thing that happened to someone else. It was an apocolypse. It was terrifying.Oh god I remember this…It was honestly the coolest thing i’ve ever seen a game do for what it was doing it for. From someone who wasn’t there for it: This is both awesome and terrifying.I wasn’t there for this either (mostly because my computer couldn’t really run 1.0 at all), but I remember watching streams of this. I felt absolutely panicked. It was amazing to see the kind of send off they gave this game, regardless of how depressing it was to see the final 90k happen. To be honest, I kind of want to see something like this happen in Heavensward or later, but I don’t want it to be because they’re going to shut down the servers. Just recreating the terror of scenes like this, I would eventually like to be a part of something like that, too. -- source link
