Yesterday I posted a link to this on LiveJournal (since most of the fun comes from the loophole that allows me to post it there) but if you want to avoid the site, or if it isn’t working, here’s the full strip and the backstory. What apparently happened at LiveJournal according to Reply All:(1) Putin came to power by destroying the free media, and making all news outlets run by the state. Russian journalists flocked to LJ as a place to post free speech.2) Putin tried to shut it down with paid trolling. Didn’t work. They tried using violence. One blogger had his fingers broken with a lead pipe, and when he still defied them, he was beaten into a coma. Nevertheless they persisted. (3) So suddenly a they just bought the entire company and moved the servers to Russia so it could be controlled.(4) Now the Russian government has access to all user’s data, and every post must follow Russian censorship laws.It makes me real sad that a community I loved, still represented by a mascot I gave personality to, who is associated with my name, does things that harm people. So I had to do something. It may be a dumb little protest, but it’s my protest. For those that are silenced, I had the company’s own mascot speak up.I’ve released this under Creative Commons BY, so you can spread, mirror and back this up wherever you want. -- source link
