Steinberg #i still can’t believe how much effort and care the writers have put into this relationship #two main characters.. both MEN.. having such an extraordinarily deep and profound bond and it being absolutely 100% Genuine ???!!! #that outcome being exactly what the writers have strived to achieve as they were building it??? completely aware of how it would look #how often does that happen?? how often do u see a show that focuses this much on character development and complex relationship dynamics #without half-assing any of it?? a show that intentionally creates a compelling relationship between two men and doesn’t shy away from it #a show that doesn’t push the relationships in the background in favor of the narrative and then AT BEST keeps them at subtext level #never to be fully explored?? a show that doesn’t downplay the dynamic at the mere whiff of backlash or fear of feeding the ‘crazy shippers’ #a show that doesn’t queerbait! #black sails doesn’t give a fuck #they’re here to make it REAL and HUMAN despite how it may be recieved by the audience #BECAUSE OF THAT even if these two don’t end up being canon as we’d like them to be it won’t diminish the quality of their relationship #bc the writers have already made it beyond fascinating but more importantly they fully support and honor the meaning of it #and it is SO REFRESHING when your thoughts on a certain ship are respected and valid by the creators #bc u know the intent on making it as meaningful as it is was real[via @captain-flint]#sometimes I remember that the ‘you can’t see it yet can you? you are not alone’ line is EXPLICITLY ABOUT SILVER IN THE TEXT #LITERALLY JUST TWENTY FLASHING ARROWS POINTING TO ONE JOHN SILVER #and I have to lie down in my bed buried beneath the covers and sweat the pain out of my suffering mortal flesh cage #also: jonathan steinberg can get out of town with that quote to be quite frank >:( #gET ON OUTTA HERE JON!!!!! >:( #‘not having anyone to have that human experience with…we liked him finding john silver’ #flint needs to find john…so that he can be a human…who has human experiences…with other humans…sHUT…UR DANG…MOUTH #I’m not even going to address the ‘man within the monster thing’ #NOT EVEN GONNA ADDRESS IT!!!! [via @candlewinds]#every damn detail and nuance written for the silverflint relationship since they met is masterfully sculpted piece of dark art #toby and luke portray it all with such skilled and believable acting that it takes very little effort as a viewer to get pulled in #they just make it happen effortlessly #you can look at their relationship in the show with either set of goggles and it works brilliantly either way #platonic monsters with a partnership that clicks together perfectly like twin gears in a mechanism #or hungry romantic disasters that orbit each other in an endless pattern and cannot stray far away even if they wanted to #like….. the shift in direction for how you choose to perceive their bond is so subtle and clever and beautiful but it’s there #they fit together either way and the writing of it all just blows my mind [via @littlerebelwolf] -- source link
