sorrynotsorrybi:Kesha Rose Sebert, born March 1st, 1987Badassness: Kesha was born in Los Angeles and grew up in Nashville. Her single mother (who was also a singer-songwriter, often performing with an infant Kesha onstage) struggled to make ends meet and sometimes used food stamps to support her three children. Kesha excelled in school, enrolling in the international baccalaureate program. According to her, she scored a 1500 on the SAT and was planning to study psychology at college when she was discovered by Dr. Luke, who convinced her to drop out of high school at 17 and move to LA. She started out penning songs and singing backup for artists like Britney Spears and Paris Hilton, and was featured on Flo Rida’s “Right Round” (although she received no money for the track). Her first album, Animal, launched her to fame, and was followed by the EP Cannibal and her second album, Warrior. Kesha is also an activist for animal rights, anti-bullying campaigns, and LGBTQ rights. She has officiated several same-gender weddings, dedicated her second album to her LGBTQ fans, and penned “We R Who We R” for all who feel excluded and bullied based on who they are. In 2014 Kesha checked herself into rehab for an eating disorder, which her mother claims stemmed from Dr. Luke’s verbal abuse of her. Later in 2014, Kesha filed a lawsuit against Dr. Luke for years of physical, verbal emotional and sexual abuse. Kesha recently stated that her lawsuit against Dr. Luke has effectively ended her music career, since she won’t work with her alleged abuser but is contractually obligated to work with only him. Knowing that false reports of rape are incredibly rare, and that people who come forward deal with a ton of victim blaming and disbelief, this post is in solidarity with Kesha and all victims of sexual assault.Bisexuality: Kesha originally came out as open to relationships with multiple genders but without a label in a 2010 interview with Out Magazine. Then in 2013 she confirmed her bisexual orientation in an interview with Seventeen Magazine, saying, “I don’t love just men. I love people. It’s not about a gender. It’s just about the spirit that exudes from that other person you’re with.”Badass Bisexuals features a famous bisexual person every weekend on this blog. Follow for more badasses! -- source link
