I’d get on a random bus and land myself into a destination unknown. I didn’t care about where I ended up.”*Light and Night Master-list | Evan’s Personal Master-list*Spoiler free: Translations will remain under cut*Join my Light & Night Discord (^▽^)~ ♪*Event story tag will be #For Light and Memories*Note: I am still on semi (?) hiatus because Chamber still has his death grip on me, but you can still contact me here whenever! It was evening, accompanied by a steady stream of people exiting the theatres. The temperatures outside had significantly lowered by this time as I grabbed my coat and trailed after Evan.Evan: Have you thought of what to eat later?MC: Hmm… I want something warm!Evan walked in front of me, the sunlight shining upon his slender figure, casting a long shadow on the ground.I advanced step by step under the cover of his shadow, the wind that blew against my face slightly biting.Evan: Let’s go for some Casserole porridge then.A warm hand reached over my shoulder to open the car door. ❖☆———————————★❖ I leaned comfortably into the car seat as we slowly drove away from the bustling noise of the city. The channels of the radio changed, now playing a soothing melody. It made me feel really sleepy.Evan: You can take a nap if you’re tired. I’ll wake you when we reach our destination.Half-awake, I felt a jacket being gently placed over my form accompanied by the familiar scent of wormwood.Just as the car turned into a corner, a meow sounded as a brown and white cat suddenly darted out from the alleyway.Evan quickly stepped on the breaks, the sudden jerk of the car as it skidded to a stop throwing the both of us forwards in our seats.MC: Whoa-!My back slammed into the seat and the short moment of weightlessness made me feel a little ill.I subconsciously grabbed onto Evan’s wrist. He reacted by flipping his hand over to hold my hand, rubbing the back of my hand in a comforting manner.Evan: Are you alright?MC: Yeah, I’m okay.Hearing the sharp and piercing cry of the horn, the cat quickly leapt to attention and skittered away. However, the documents in the car had completely fallen over, scattering over the narrow inner car mats.I bent down to pick them up and arrange them back in order as I brushed the dust off the kraft paper.MC: Can I put this in the backseat? The order’s all messed up though.Evan: It’s okay. Those are all old project proposals. The pile of A4 papers scattered all over the floor had concealed a novel, written in a foreign language. The corners of the pages of this book were slightly bent, probably from thumbing it a good many times over.MC: This is…Evan: A ferry ticket.I picked up one corner of it, reading the words printed on the yellowing ticket: Guangqi - Liyu.MC: Evan.Evan: Hm?MC: I never thought that you already went to the internet famed destination so early into the ages!I turned to look at him. He was slightly stunned for a while before replying to me with a light chuckle.Evan: Has it turned into a popular vacation spot now?MC: Of course! You can say that it’s essentially Guangqi’s backyard garden!I outstretched my palms. The sunlight filtered in through the car window, the stream of light casting a soft glow upon the fading ink of the ferry ticket.MC: By the way, I’ve been wanting to ask this but why keep an old ferry ticket of all things? I mean, you often go to so many places, no?Evan went silent for a while, his fingers thumbing at the thick edge of the ferry ticket.Evan: I suppose it’s because this ticket represents the first time I went to Liyu 14 years ago,MC: Alone?Evan: Yes.Evan: Some things happened back then.He pressed a button on the control panel, letting the windows slowly roll down, inviting a gentle and slight breeze. It ruffled the stray strands of hair that had fallen out of his hairdo, hanging before his forehead.Evan: Sometimes, I’d avoid our butler. Other times, even Zhou Yan. I’d get on a random bus and land myself into a destination unknown. I didn’t care about where I ended up.Evan: I recall that this bus ride had been a long one back then, for it took a long time before it finally came to a stop somewhere in the southernmost part of Guangqi City.Evan: The sunlight was brilliant, and there was a small island not too far away from the stop that floated atop the sea, all by its lonesome.Evan: I’d bought a ticket for the last ferry of the day. I didn’t prepare anything, and all I had on me was a book that I’d yet to finish reading.MC: This book?I waved the book in my hand in front of him. The spine of it was already starting to get loose.Evan: That’s right.Evan: There were no yachts in service back then, so the only way to get onto the island was to take a two-hour ferry ride.Evan: But I greatly enjoyed the time I had; for it was time I could kill without a care in the world. The sun was gradually sinking below the horizon, and there were countless cars parked one after another in a neat line on an overpass in the distance.Evan: Why have you gone quiet on me now?MC: It’s a little hard to imagine you taking a bus and a ferry to a small island that held nothing but a small fishing village back then.MC: What about now? Do you still go there?Evan: I do. But I haven’t really been able to find the time to go there again ever since I took over Warson.Evan paused for a moment before speaking again, his voice as soft and warm as the gently light of dusk.Evan: Do you want to go there together?MC: Can I?I looked up to meet his eyes that were slightly alight with happiness. Embarrassed, I slightly rubbed my nose.Evan: Of course; if that is your wish.Evan: Although, it might get a little dull if you’re travelling with me of all people.I shook my head, slotting the ticket back between the pages of the book, closing it, and neatly placing it back into the glove box in front of the car’s front seat.MC: Well, it’s not just because I want a vacation…MC: But also because I want to see the places that you used to go.Evan manoeuvred the steering wheel, slowly drawing the car to a stop. Then, he leaned closer to me, his slender fingers working at the seat belt that fastened me securely to the seat.Evan: Let’s go next weekend then.Evan: The weather will be better next week.I was just about to happily agree to his plan when my stomach begrudgingly decided to rumble at the worst timing ever.MC: ……Evan: We can draw up the plans for our trip anytime, but I think dinner’s the most pressing issue right now.Only a maple-coloured cloud remained drifting upon the horizon as the corners of his mouth lifted into a warm smile; one as warm as the comforting steam of freshly cooked food, keeping the chilly winds of the evening at bay. -- source link
