iztarshi:empty-movement:The softly colored siblings set against almost totally desaturated crowds. These scenes are separated by like…half of the television show, and yet no other flashbacks get this aesthetic treatment. There are similarities here, though. A boy on an unrealistic pedestal, a sister that makes the mistake of treating him like he’s a human being. Someone hurt, someone saved. The visual and thematic parallels here raise some questions: if what Anthy has done, she’s done out of genuine concern and kindness….where Touga is the standin for her role, do we assume he’s genuinely caring for his sister there? Or if we assume he’s already got ulterior motives, do we extend that to Anthy, whose venomous lashing out at the crowd would certainly speak to more than just altruism? As always, more questions than answers, but it would be hard to argue this move wasn’t deliberate.I made my own post about this a while ago, but I mentioned the similarities on the Empty Movement server so now we have a post with a much better photoset and a few more parallels. And definitely some interesting questions. After giving it some thought, I do think Touga’s playing a role and being manipulative here, but the object of that isn’t Nanami. His parents have a very specific role they want him to play and part of that actually is being the perfect big brother to Nanami because they like to be able to display their perfect little family (look at the photo album). If he can play this off in a way that makes Nanami getting herself dirty to bring him a kitten part of that image rather than a case of her ruining it, then maybe he can get them out of this with no one being punished.I’m not sure how that plays into any parallels though. -- source link
