sugarfreeblog: George Platt Lynes The American photographer George Platt Lynes (b.1907 – d.1955) created this startling pair of needlepoint cushions, at some point between 1940 and 1950. Known more for his theatrical black and white studio nudes, they are stitched in wool. The image depicts two male nudes reclining across a needlepoint ground of a beach or sand dunes under a starlit sky. They seem to be quite tightly designed, he uses the square of each cushion like a canvas for a painting. Not sure of their origin, but they are so subtle and tender. I love the way the outlines of the figures run into each other and the warm ground colours.source : cruiseorbecruised -- source link
