my18thcenturysource:Just getting into the Holiday mood with some men dressed in red and looking great while at it, but not in a military way.Images, from top:“Portrait de Monsieur de Buissy”, 1745, Joseph Siffred Duplessis.“Portrait of Jean Victor de Rochechouart, Duc de Mortemart”, 1756, Jean-Marc Nattier.“Portrait of an African”, ca. 1757-1760, attributed to Allan Ramsay. Thought to be Olaudah Equiano, but mainly thought to not be him, but still this portrait is on the cover of the books by Equiano, even though Equiano himself commissioned an engraving portrait to use in his book. Still a wonderful piece of art, but apparently not Equiano.“Portrait of Edmund Rolfe”, 1761, Pompeo Batoni.“Lord Spencer Hamilton”, ca. 1778, Francis Wheatley.“Portrait of George Bustard Greaves”, George Romney. -- source link
