The right gift for someone you care about is something you know they want/need/will appreciate. a washer dryer is a household appliance used regularly for the entire household. even if one person is more likely to physically use the appliance on behalf of the household, it should not mean they have to sacrifice getting a gift for themselves so that the household has it. if the household needs something, then the household (usually the adult wage earners) should provide it for the household. Honestly, the only time a household appliance can be seen as a gift is if it’s given to someone from outside the household. Where they don’t directly benefit from it. A mom giving her adult daughter a washer dryer is a gift. A husband providing his own household with a washer dryer, that his wife may still very much appreciate, is not a gift.
