How does one come to terms with the aftermath of their past and history? What comes after the conclusion?The answer to any of these is what this challenge wants you to explore.As a spiritual “successor” to 2012’s Where I Belong challenge, we invite all Final Fantasy VIII fans — both experienced and new — to participate in The Successor Challenge in August 2015. Unlike its predecessor, in lieu of focusing on a single relationship, this challenge revolves around a single theme – ‘what happens after?’As such, this challenge is open to any character(s) you wish to write about, draw or create fan mixes for.The challenge’s requirements are as follows:Submissions have to be posted and completed in August 2015. Early submissions to this page will not be posted until August 1st. Any submissions after 11:59 EST on August 31st will not be accepted.Submissions have to be made specifically for the challenge. No reused or re-purposed pieces will be allowed.Any fanfiction pieces submitted cannot rely on any knowledge other than the game canon so they can be readily accessible to everyone. They must be standalone pieces - no sequels to existing works will be allowed. All pieces must mention that the submission is for the Successor Challenge. You can also use the #thesuccessorchallenge tag if you are posting on Tumblr directly in lieu of other sites. As this is smaller in scale than the WiB challenge, if you would like your piece(s) featured here, please use the submission page (links to the works hosted on other sites are welcome as well). We will try our best to reblog posts featuring the aforementioned Successor Challenge tag but direct submissions will help guarantee that we see them.If you have any questions about the guidelines outlined above. Please do not hesitate to send an ask! :)(Note: all questions will be answered publicly to minimize repeat questions - barring any requests to be answered privately, of course.)Addendum:There are no restrictions on fic length or number of chapters posted. One-shots / poems are welcome. The only requirement is that fics are to be completed before August ends.All canon universe fics must be post-game.There are norestrictions on how early or late post game the fic occurs, however - we just ask that it’s post-game to avoid going over stated canon. So long asthe end game credits have rolled, you’re good. :) Alternatively, if people want to write AU fic,we just ask that the theme of ‘what happens after’ is interpretedas ‘what happens after [an event happened to a character / several characters]’whether it’s implied or explained. Post-game non-AU fics can interpret the themelike this too.  As the challenge is here to celebrate the game and the relationshipswithin, please keep OCs to perfunctory roles only.
