katy-l-wood:tag-cat:Exactly one year ago today, a group of people on Tumblr had an idea: what if there was a website where books were tagged like fanfiction?Today, we’re unveiling our preview of what we’ve been working on that you can check out at tagcat.org. It includes two screenshots of books we’ve tagged and what their book pages look like! This is an exciting next step for us on the way to a beta launch, and it’s been incredible to watch it all come together after twelve months of work. Along with the screenshots, tagcat.org has an overview and descriptions of upcoming features we’ve previously shared as blog posts, an option to sign up for our newsletter, and links to all our social media accounts. This website came out of a lot of hard work from a not-very-large team. While we reflect, we’d like to share the highlights of our first year with all of you. Starting from the spark of an idea and a lot of excitement, we settled into the ongoing tasks of programming a website, creating tagging guidelines, and determining what sort of resource we wanted as readers ourselves. Some of the best moments in the last year were choosing a name for ourselves, seeing some of the first mock-ups, and realizing how far we’ve come when our landing page was ready. Now for some fun stats!Total Starting Volunteers: 59Total Current Active Volunteers: About 15Staff Members: 6Books Tagged: 70+ (check out our Goodreads to see the list!)Total Number of Tags: 1400+Number of Unique Tags: 700+Number of Tag Types: about 80 in 12 tag blocksLines of code: 1662 in 168 commitsWe’re looking forward to the next year of programming, testing and, of course, tagging books!Hey everyone! I helped start this awesome project last year and I am thrilled to see how far it has come! I haven’t been involved since helping get it off the ground due to other commitments, but I am so damn proud of the team that’s working on it. They’ve got lots of great stuff coming and I am super excited for them. Be sure to check them out and keep an eye on what they’re doing. -- source link
