revwarheart:By the incomparable Robert Griffing.French and Indian War (1754-1763)1) Scouting for the English - In 1758, General John Forbes leads yet another campaign against the French at the forks of the Ohio. At his side are few native allies. Among them are warriors of the Cherokee and Catawba nations. They are the eyes of the army keeping careful watch on the trails west of the Alleghenies, often coming within sight of Fort Duquesne itself. Here we see a single silent warrior as he keeps a patient watch over the French across the Monongahela.2) Council with the Allies - This scene depicts General Louis-Joseph Marquis de Montcalm as he meets with their Indian allies near the French fotress Carillon on the shore of Lake Champlain. Today this fort is known as Fort Ticonderoga. Some Native Americans came from as far away as the western Great lakes to join Montcalm, who they considered to be a great leader. Just to speak with the General was a great honor amongst the Natives.[source] -- source link
